Robert Creeley / Dos poemas

La inocencia

Mirando el mar, una línea
ininterrumpida de montañas.

Es el cielo.
Es la tierra. Allí
vivimos, sobre ella.

Es una niebla
ahora tangencial a otra
quieta. Aquí llegan
las hojas, allí
manifiéstase la roca

o atestigua.
Lo que vengo de hacer
está parcial, parcialmente guardado.

La proposición inmoral

Si nunca haces nada por nadie
te será ahorrada la tragedia de las relaciones

humanas. Si calladamente y como otras veces
se produce el paso de algo inesperado:

mirarlo es más
de lo que era. Dios sabe

que nada es válido, que nada es
todo lo posible. El inseguro

egoísta no es
bueno para sí.

The Innocence

Looking at the sea, it is a line
of unbroken mountains.

It is the sky.
It is the ground. There
we live, on it.

It is a mist
now tangent to another
quiet. Here the leaves
come, there
is the rock in evidence

or evidence.
Waht I come to do
is partial, partially kept.

The Inmoral Proposition

If you never anything for anyone else
you are spared the tragedy of human relation-

ships. If quietly and like another time
there is the passage of an unexpected thing:

to look at is more
that it was. God knows

nothing is competent nothing is
all there is. The unsure

egoist is not
good for himself.
